Dr. Dave Moyer, superintendent of the Arlington Central School District in Dutchess County said he has taken a new superintendent position with the Northport-East Northport Union Free School District on Long Island beginning in January 2024.
"Together we accomplished a great deal in a short period of time," Moyer said in a letter to the school community. "That is thanks to your collective commitment to our children, our community, and our school district."
The Arlington Board of Education thanked Moyer for his leadership over the past two and a half years.
"Dr. Moyer assumed the role of Arlington Superintendent during the turbulence of the COVID-19 pandemic," said Board President Mary Anne Meaden. "He promoted student-centered, equity-focused, and future-driven learning experiences for all Arlington students while steering us through the challenges of returning to full-time, in-person instruction."
Meaden said the board will be looking to appoint an interim superintendent to guide the district through the remainder of the 2023/2024 school year.
At their next meeting, the board will name an ad hoc Board subcommittee to begin a comprehensive search to find the district's next permanent superintendent, she added.
"Thank you to the Board of Education, which gave me the opportunity to serve this community," Moyer said. "I will always be thankful for the opportunity to have served as the superintendent of the Arlington Central School District."
